On November 9, 2025, the 2025 Zhijiang Business Forum hosted by the Zhejiang Administration for Market Regulation was successfully held in Hangzhou. The forum was themed Intellectual Property Protection and Innovation Development in the Era of Artificial Intelligence. A delegation of teachers and students from Shanghai International College of Intellectual Property (SICIP), Tongji University, was invited to attend the event.

The delegation was led by Dang Jianwei, Acting Executive Dean of SICIP, accompanied by Han Yue, counselor for international students, together with 9 international students from Chile, Tajikistan, Nigeria and other countries.

Focusing on the new intellectual property challenges brought by artificial intelligence technologies, the forum held in-depth discussions on forward-looking key topics including data property definition, protection of AI-generated content, and cross-border IP compliance. SICIP teachers and students carefully listened to the reports and panel discussions, kept abreast of the latest industry developments and trends, and fully engaged in this high-level intellectual property dialogue.

For international students from diverse cultural backgrounds, this activity was not only an academic feast, but also a vivid practical course. By listening to speeches delivered by top experts from home and abroad, they deepened their understanding of the professional field, and gained an intuitive insight into China’s practices and thinking in the field of artificial intelligence intellectual property governance, which provided valuable practical experience for their future academic study and career development.

Kamran Ahmadli (Azerbaijan), 2025 International PhD Student:

Attending the forum "Intellectual Property Protection and Innovation Development in the Era of Artificial Intelligence" in Hangzhou was a meaningful experience. Beyond the official discussions, what stood out to me was the atmosphere, a genuine intersection of law, technology, and human creativity. Each session reminded me that intellectual property, though often treated as a legal shield, is also a bridge between innovation and trust.

Hangzhou itself, with its blend of tradition and digital vitality, felt like the perfect host city. Conversations with experts from different backgrounds offered not just professional insights, but also perspectives on how AI is reshaping the ethical and philosophical foundations of IP. I left with renewed motivation, not only to deepen my doctoral research, but to understand how the evolving dialogue between humans and algorithms will define the next chapter of creativity.
