Program Introduction

The construction of the Intellectual Property discipline at Tongji University began with the establishment of the Intellectual Property College in March 2003. Relying on Tongji University's established strengths in science and engineering and its characteristic exchanges with Germany and Europe, the college is dedicated to cultivating interdisciplinary high-level talents in intellectual property law and management that are in demand by society.
The program aims to cultivate intellectual property professionals with interdisciplinary knowledge and a global perspective, equipping them with solid expertise in law, management, economics, and other relevant fields. They will be capable of conducting high-level research, management, and practical work in the field of intellectual property. The program seeks to nurture talents with international competitiveness and innovation awareness, enabling them to flexibly address intellectual property challenges in a globalized context and contribute positively to promoting international cooperation and innovation development in intellectual property.
Application Period

First Application Period:
Chinese Government Scholarship, Self-funded: December 1, 2024 to February 20, 2025
Second application period:
Shanghai Municipal Government Scholarship, Self-funded: March 1, 2025 to April 10, 2025
Eligible Applicants
>
1. Non-Chinese citizens in good health;
2. Applicants for a master’s program in China must have a bachelor’s degree. Scholarship students must be 35 or under and self-supporting students must be 45 or under.
Application Requirements
>
·Language: 80 or above for TOEFL, or 6.0 or above for IELTS, or other certificates which can prove that English is your native language or the working language;
· A bachelor's degree or equivalent, with a major in Law;
·Certified copies of degree certificates and academic transcripts are required. If these documents are not in Chinese or English, notarized translations must be provided;
·A statement of purpose (detailing reasons for applying to this program, at least 800 words in length;
·Two recommendation letters from professors, associate professors, or professionals with equivalent or higher positions.
In addition to the above application materials, the university may require an applicant to provide supplementary materials, depending on specific requirements.
Credit Requirements

Each master's student must complete a minimum of 31 credits, including at least 6 credits in general education courses, 12 credits in major-specific courses, 8 credits in elective courses, and 5 credits in compulsory segments.
Tuition Fee
>
RMB 40,000 per academic year. If an applicant receives a Chinese Government Scholarship or Shanghai Government Scholarship, Tongji University will waive the entire tuition fee; if the applicant is not awarded either of these scholarships, the tuition fee will be paid at his or her own expense.
