On July 15, 2020, SICIP and the Third Branch of Shanghai People’s Procuratorate jointly held an online seminar on Interpretation Ⅲ of the Supreme People’s Court and the Supreme People’s Procuratorate of the Issues concerning the Specific Application of Law in Handling Criminal Cases of Infringement of Intellectual Property Rights (hereinafter referred to as Interpretation Ⅲ). Prosecutors from the Shanghai People’s Procuratorate and the Third Branch of the Shanghai People’s Procuratorate, judges from the Shanghai Third Intermediate People’s Court, faculties and students from the SICIP of Tongji University, participated in this seminar. Judge Zhang Benyong, from the Shanghai High People’s Court, served as a reviewer.

This seminar focused on the clauses of Interpretation Ⅲ, and the participants made keynote speeches including issues such as background introduction of Interpretation Ⅲ, the identification of the same trademark, the relationship between serious circumstances and great losses in the crime of infringement of trade secrets, and the calculation of the amount of trade secret losses. The experts and scholars discussed from a theoretical level, and combined with their rich experience in judicial practice, put forward relevant suggestions for improvement. At the end of the meeting, Judge Zhang Benyong reviewed and made a concluding speech.
SICIP of Tongji University always follows the combination of theory and practice in intellectual property education and scientific research. The seminar co-organized with the Third Branch of Shanghai People’s Procuratorate embodies the teaching and scientific research philosophy of SICIP to keep up with the concerns of the times and respond to social reality.
