Academic Seminar on “Legal Challenges in the Age of Artificial Intelligence” was held in Tongji University

On August 8, 2019, the first meeting of the academic seminar series “Legal Challenges in the Age of Artificial Intelligence” was held at Shanghai International College of Intellectual Property, Tongji University. The meeting was supported by a major project “Research on Legal and Intellectual Property Issues in the Development of Artificial Intelligence Industry” supported by “the Fundamental Research Funds for the Central Universities, Tongji University”. Experts and scholars from Shanghai International College of Intellectual Property, Tongji University, Fudan University Law School, College of Electronic and Information Engineering, Tongji University, Unitalen Law Office in Beijing, and other units, as well as relevant post doctors and doctors, attended the meeting.


Relevant experts introduced the research background and emphasized the significance and thinking of making full use of the disciplinary advantages of Tongji University to complete this cross-cutting research. In the process of research, it is necessary to make use of the long-term and deep foundation of cooperation among Shanghai International College of Intellectual Property, World Intellectual Property Organization, Max Planck Institute for Intellectual Property and Competition Law and other institutions to keep pace and interact with leading international research teams.


After active discussions, the experts at the meeting reached a consensus on the main issues, research plans, and exchange mechanisms of this topic, which laid the foundation for effective follow-up collaborative research and solid results.
