Chinese and foreign students visited the Shanghai High People’s Court

On June 5, 2019, students from WIPO-Tongji MIP in Design and B&R MIP visited the Shanghai High People's Court under the guidance of Prof. Cheng Deli from SICIP. Mr. Zhen Tang, the Deputy Director of the Intellectual Property Division of the Shanghai High People's Court, Mr. Kong Liming, the Chief Judge, Judge Ms. Zhang Ying, and Mr. Tao Ye, and Ms. Ye Ping, the Director of the Foreign Affairs Office participated in the reception.


Firstly, the students listened to the introduction of the Shanghai High People's Court from the Foreign Affairs Office. Ms. Ye Ping introduced the development concept, the acceptance, and conclusion of cases, the establishment of institutions, and the operation mechanism of the Shanghai High People's Court. Prof. Cheng Deli and Mr. Kong Liming introduced the appeal of the design infringement case which was to be observed. Then, the students watched the hearing process of the case presided over by Mr. Zhen Tang. After the trial, the Chief Judge and the members of the Collegial Panel exchanged and interacted with the students on the main dispute of the case. The students had a heated discussion with the judge on the calculation of damages, the contribution of industrial design to products, the joint tort liability of commercial platform, etc. Finally, under the guidance of Ms. Ye Ping, the students visited institutions such as the court and information center of Shanghai High People's Court and took photos together.
