On May 23, 2019, Organized by the Office of Professional Degree Promotion Leading Group and the Personnel Department of Chinese National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA), the “National Intellectual Property Professional Degree Construction Seminar” was successfully held by the Graduate School of Tongji University and Shanghai International College of Intellectual Property (SICIP).
Mr. Lei Xinghui, the Vice President of Tongji University expressed gratitude to the Chinese National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA), Shanghai Intellectual Property Office, and the Academic Degrees Committee Office of the State Council and Shanghai Academic Degrees Office for their support over the years. He said that in recent years, Tongji University has made great progress in the training of intellectual property talents, scientific research, and international exchanges. Tongji is confident and capable of continuing to play a leading role in the national intellectual property professional degree and discipline construction. Mr. Yang Hui, the Deputy Commissioner of Shanghai Intellectual Property Administration (SIPA) pointed out that strengthening the protection of intellectual property rights is an important measure to promote the economic and social development of Shanghai. Mr. Ma Fang, the Inspector of the Personnel Department of CNIPA emphasized the basic guarantee role of high-level, applicable and compound talents in the strategy of strengthening the country with intellectual property.
Representatives from IP colleges of Tongji University, Shanghai University, East China University of Political Science and Law, Dalian University of Technology, Nanjing University of Science and Technology, Jiangsu University, and Beijing Second Foreign Studies University shared the unique patterns and practical difficulties in IP talent training. Representatives from the Pudong New Area Court, Pudong New Area Intellectual Property Association, Shanghai Pharmaceutical Group, China Microelectronics and other institutions believe that the Chinese market has a growing demand for high-level talents with international vision and comprehensive skills. The establishment of intellectual property professional degrees in universities is a general trend and should Seize the opportunity to adapt to the development of the times.
