April 26 marks World Intellectual Property Day. Mr. Francis Gurry, the Director-General of World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) once said in an interview that China has been attaching great importance to intellectual property, and placing the protection of intellectual property at the heart of the economy for over a decade. Chinese experiences indicated the country’s long-term commitment to intellectual property, which is an important reference for Belt and Road countries.
Recently, Prof. Shan Xiaoguang, the Dean of the Shanghai International College of Intellectual Property was interviewed by People’s Daily to introduce the internationalization of intellectual property education in China. This interview was published in People’s Daily (Overseas Edition) (April 25, 2019, 2nd page), titled “Intellectual Property Cooperation Boosts Belt and Road Construction”. The report aimed to present the achievement China has done regarding intellectual property cooperation and intellectual property’s role among the implementation of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).
