Prof. Shan Xiaoguang and Prof. Yu Xinmiao attended the 4th EU-China High-Level Innovation Cooperation Dialogue

n April 9, 2019, Prof. Shan Xiaoguang, the Dean of the Shanghai International College of Intellectual Property, and Prof. Yu Xinmiao, the Deputy Dean of the Shanghai International College of Intellectual Property, were invited to Brussels to attend the fourth China-EU Innovation Cooperation Dialogue (ICD). The Dialogue was co-chaired by Mr. Wang Zhigang, the Minister of Ministry of Science and Technology of the PRC, and Mr. Carlos Moedas, the Research and Innovation Committee of the European Commission. The other 60 representatives from government departments, scientific research institutions, and innovation experts of both sides attended the dialogue.

Prof. Shan Xiaoguang shared a view on “Deepening the Sino-European intellectual property collaboration, and meeting the common challenge of the New Science and Technology Revolution”. He introduced the latest development of China's intellectual property system from the perspectives of revision and implementation of relevant laws and regulations on intellectual property rights, professional talents education, and suggested that both sides should make more effective use of the China-EU innovation cooperation dialogue mechanism, further strengthen cooperation, and focus on new technologies, including big data and Artificial Intelligence.

The experts from both sides also held a China-EU Research and Innovation Strategy Partner Seminar at the European Commission General Directorate for Research and Innovation. Prof. Xiaoguang Shan, Prof. Xinmiao Yu, and Mr. Rongping Mu, the Party Committee Secretary of the CAS Institutes of Science and Development, discussed several issues, including science, technology, and innovation (STI) collaboration, professional talents education, intellectual property rights and competition law with Ms. Kirsi Haavisto, the Director of the European Commission Directorate for Research and Innovation, and senior expert Ms. Marianne Gumælius.

After the Dialogue, Premier Li Keqiang and President of the European Commission Jean-Claude Juncker met the representatives and took a group photo.
