October 18, 2019, the 14th “Tongji-Bayer Intellectual Property Right Forum” themed “Holistic Innovation Intellectual Property Protection in Modern Industry” was successfully held in the Science and Technology Building of Suzhou High-tech Zone. More than 190 experts and scholars from government agencies, the judicial systems, academic circles, business enterprises, and intellectual property organizations in China and Germany attended the forum.

Mr. Luo Dongchuan, the Vice President of the Supreme People's Court, delivered a speech on the major innovations in China's intellectual property judicial protection system. Dr. Wang Chuang, the Vice President of the Intellectual Property Court of the Supreme People's Court, Dr. Patricia Rombach, the Judge of the German Federal Supreme Court, discussed the issue of the FRAND defense of the Standard Essential Patent. Judge Beate Schmidt, the President of the German Federal Patent Court, and Judge Zhu Li, the Presiding Judge of the Intellectual Property Tribunal of the Supreme People's Court introduced the judicial theory and practice of Germany and China.

Dr. Joerg Thomaier, the Managing Director of Bayer Intellectual Property GmbH, Dr. Peter Ganea, the German Vice Director of Sino-German International Economic Law Institute, Tongji University, Prof. Liu Xiaohai and Prof. Song Xiaoting of Shanghai International College of Intellectual Property of Tongji University, Dr. Li Yantao, the Director of the Chemical Invention Examination Department, Patent Examination Cooperation Jiangsu Center of the Patent Office, CNIPA, Dr. Pei Sze Ng, the Director of Open Innovation, Bayer HealthCare Co., Ltd., and Ms. Tong Lin, the Director of New Business Development, Bayer CropScience China Ltd., gave their opinions on relevant issues.

Prof. Shan Xiaoguang, the Dean of the Shanghai International College of Intellectual Property of Tongji University, introduced the development of the college at the opening ceremony. Prof. Song Xiaoting, the Chairman of the College Council, expressed deep gratitude for the good cooperation with Bayer over the years.
