On January 10, 2019, the seminar on “Background and Contents of the Fourth Revision of the Patent Law” was held in Zhonghe Building at Tongji University to cooperate with the new round of revision of the patent law and to discuss the background and contents of the revision of the patent law. The seminar was co-sponsored by Shanghai International Collage of Intellectual Property and the Center for Intellectual Property Study of Fudan University. And supported by the Intellectual Property Law Research Institute of Shanghai Law Society. More than 50 representatives of teachers and students from enterprises and public institutions such as Fudan University, East China University of Political Science and Law, East China University of Science and Technology, Shanghai University, the People’s Court of Pudong New Area attended the forum and made suggestions for the revisions of the patent law.

At the forum, the experts discussed the main points of the fourth revision draft of the patent law. Experts attending the forum pointed out that as China strengthens its building of a strong country in intellectual property and thoroughly implements the national intellectual property strategy, new contradictions and problems have emerged during the implementation of the patent law. A new round of reform of the patent law is imperative. The participants spoke freely and proposed suggestions from different perspectives. The forum would summarize the suggestions and opinions of the experts and scholars on the revision of the patent law and submit them to the relevant departments in written form.
