On May 12, 2020, Chinese and foreign students of the WIPO and The Belt and Road Program, under the chairmanship of Prof. Cheng Deli, listened to online lectures by Mr. Zhang Bin, the Vice-president of the Shanghai High People’s Court, and Ms. Wang Jing, the Third level Senior Judge of the Shanghai High People’s Court.

The topic of the lecture is about “Exploration and Practice of Strengthening the Judicial Protection of Intellectual Property by the Shanghai Court”. First of all, Mr. Zhangbin introduced the remarkable achievements of the judicial protection of intellectual property. He provided typical cases of intellectual property to explain the important role of Shanghai’s judicial protection of intellectual property in shaping a good business environment is expounded. Then, Ms. Wang Jing introduced the current status of judicial protection of intellectual property in China, judicial procedures of intellectual property, sources of intellectual property law. She also shared many lasted and representative judicial practice guidance.

The IP Enforcement Practice Course is one of the most popular IP practice courses at Tongji University. The course is provided by English and jointly co-organized by SICIP and the Shanghai High People’s Court. Every semester, the Shanghai High People’s Court selected more than 10 outstanding judges in the field of intellectual property to give lectures and thesis guidance. Until now, the course received very positive feedback from students as well as the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).
