On June 29, 2015, Premier Li Keqiang and Minister of Science and Technology Wan Gang met with representatives Prof. Shan Xiaoguang, Dean of the Law School, and other experts, who attended the China-EU Innovation Cooperation Dialogue. The China-EU Innovation Cooperation Dialogue was held in the European Commission of Brussels on the afternoon of June 29. The dialogue mechanism was established in accordance with the Joint Statement on China-EU Innovation Cooperation Dialogue signed by the two sides during the 15th China-EU Summit. It aims to strengthen the exchange of innovative policies and scientific research and innovation cooperation between the two sides. In this dialogue, Professor Shan Xiaoguang made the first speech on behalf of the Chinese experts, and was the only expert who spoke on issues such as intellectual property rights, technical standards, and government procurement. Professor Shan’s speech was highly praised by the Chairman of the European Commission, Juncker, and the Minister of Science and Technology of China, Wan Gang.
The first dialogue was held in Beijing Great Hall of the People in 2013. In the China-EU Innovation Cooperation Dialogue, Professors of Tongji University, Gao Xujun, Song Xiaoting, Liu Xiaohai and Associate Professor Yu Xinyu played important roles in the work of the two groups of dialogues, which made a very good dialogue and formed a final basic consensus. The big contribution was well received by the leaders of the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Chinese Mission to the European Union.
