Prof. Dr. Stürner, professor of Freiburg University, Germany, gave a report entitled “the Role of Legal Dogmatic in Civil Litigation‘’ on Sept. 22 to Tongji Law School students and faculty.

 Professor Gao Xujun, the Director of Sino-German International Economic law Research Center and the Chairman of International law Education and Research Department, moderated the report.

The Doctrine in Civil Procedure Law is the classic theory in German law area. On the basis of the nature, character and other aspects of the Doctrine and Procedure Law, Prof. Stürner developed a deep investigation, and he described the origins, character, and development of German Doctrine from international comparative perspective. Meanwhile, he put the objective estimation on Doctrine of German Law, affirmed the great contribution ‘Thinking in Basic Principle’ made to the proceedings and trail mode of Civil Procedure law of Germany.

 At the end of the report, Prof. Stürner answered the questions put by students and teachers with his rich experiences of being a Judge, and analyzed the differences and the underlying causes of Civil Procedure System between China, Germany and the US, which was beneficial for the understanding of the report.
