On February 29th, American law professor Seth Gurgel gave a lecture entitled American Law Development and History to student in Law School. It’s the 6th session of Tongji Law School Economy and Business Law Salon.
Prof. Seth Gurgel introduced to the students the history and development of American law in the perspective of philosophy, psychology, anthropology, politics, religion, and sociology. He also combined Chinese cases which is familiar to students to explain procedural justice.
Prof. Seth Gurgel is a research Fellow for the U.S. -Asia Law Institute at New York University School of Law. His research focuses on Chinese rule of law development and Chinese jurisprudence, with a specific emphasis on rule of law development in labor law and criminal justice contexts. As a China Hand, he can speak Chinese fluently.
