Successfully Held of The Signing Ceremony of Cooperation Agreement between SICIP of Tongji University and LMU Faculty of Law

On March 26, 2018, the Signing Ceremony of Cooperation Agreement between Shanghai International College of Intellectual Property (SICIP) of Tongji University and Faculty of Lawof LMU Munich, and the Seminar on Sino-German Intellectual Property was held in the Zhonghe Building, Siping Road Campus, Tongji University.

Distinguished guests and experts from both China and Germany attended the signing ceremony and the seminar, which includes:Prof. Dong Qi (Former Vice President of Tongji University, former Chinese Minister-Counsellor in Germany, and Director of Sino-German Cultural Exchange Research Center), Mr. Shi Weidong (Vice President of Shanghai Law Society), Prof. Lv Guoqiang (Chairman of Intellectual Property Law Research Association of Shanghai Law Society), Prof. Dr. Ansgar Ohly and Prof. Dr. Matthias Leistner from Faculty of Law of LMU, Prof. Li Mingde (Director of Intellectual Property Center of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences), Prof. Zhang Guangliang (Law School of Renmin University of China),Prof. Shan Xiaoguang (Dean of SICIP), Li Jianchang (Secretary of the CPC General Branch of SICIP), Prof. Zhu Xuezhong (Vice Dean of SICIP), Prof. Song Xiaoting(SICIP), Prof. Liu Xiaohai (Tongji- Bayer Chair Professor), Dr. Peter Ganea (Vice Director of Sino-German International Economic Law Institute of Tongji University), and many other teachers and students from SICIP. Prof. Yu Xinmiao,Vice Dean of SICIP, hosted the event.

Prof. Dong Qi delivered a speech on behalf of Tongji University. Firstly, he pointed out the long and close cooperation relationships between manyGerman Universities and Tongji University, especially those collaborative projectsin intellectual property research. He emphasized thatLMU Munich is a world-famous university, and its law faculty is also prestigious around the globe. This cooperation is another achievement of Tongji’s cooperation with German institutions as well as a symbol of the internationalization of SICIP. He also hopes that the cooperation between thetwo schools will play an important role in communication and exchange between Germany and China.

Prof. Dr. Leistner represented the Law Faculty of LMU and delivered a speech. He mentioned that Tongji University is one of the earliest universities that carried out communication with Germany and have fostered great exchanges between Germany andChina. LMU have cooperated with Tongji University in various disciplinesfor a long time. The cooperation this time will broadenthe scope of cooperation between thetwo universities. He expected that the cooperation will improve the exchange of Intellectual Property scholars of both countries and will result in great accomplishments in IP research and academic teaching in the future.

Prof. Shan Xiaoguang represented SICIP of Tongji University, and Prof. Dr. Leistner represented Faculty of Law ofLMU Munich, signed the cooperation agreement.

After the ceremony, the two professors from LMU delivered academic reports on the latest trend of IP laws in Germany. Prof. Dr. Leistner introduced the future development of European copyright law. Then Prof. Dr. Ohly talked about the recent development and challenges of EU patent law and trade secret protection.

In the next three days, Prof. Dr. Leistner will give a series of lectures on the issues of European copyright law to students of SICIP.
