Our College Carry out Practical Teaching Activities in Cooperation with Shanghai High People’s Court and Shanghai IP Court

During the visit on May 24, Associate Professor Cheng Deli of Shanghai International College of Intellectual Property and teacher Kong Weijia led the WIPO and The Belt & Road class to visit Shanghai High People’s Court and the Shanghai Intellectual Property Court.

Around 8 o'clock in the morning, the students arrived at Shanghai High People’s Court. First, Judge Zhang Benyong introduced the trial of intellectual property cases in Shanghai High People’s Court. At 9:00, the students watched a trial on big screens in the conference room. Judge Zhang Benyong explained the basic procedure of civil litigation to the students and some key points in the trial. Later, he led students to visit the Ninth Civil Court and introduced the court’s layout. When the trial ended, two judges communicated with the students face to face, sorted out the basic facts of the case and answered questions. In the History Hall, the students learned about the changes and development of the Shanghai High People’s Court since its establishment and had an in-depth understanding of the construction of the Chinese judicial system.

At 1:30 pm, two classes of students visited the Shanghai Intellectual Property Court. First of all, judge assistant Meng Xiaofei welcomed the arrival of the teachers and students.He introduced the layout and characteristics of the court, especially a variety of civilian convenience measures, on-line services, and professional technical support. Subsequently, Judges Qian Guangwen and Ling Zongliang introduced the current situation of the Shanghai Intellectual Property Court and the fruitful results since the establishment of the court. Students discussed the mediation procedure, the jurisdiction of the cases, and the methods to figure out technical facts, consulted judges in detail and received their patient answers.

Discussthe practical issues

With the support of the Shanghai High People's Court and the Shanghai Intellectual Property Court, the teaching activities on the enforcement of intellectual property in our college have been carried out smoothly. Through the visit to the courts, our students intuitively understood the trial procedures of civil lawsuits and the status quo of Chinese trial in the field of intellectual property. They are also deeply touched by the determination of the people of Shanghai courts to perform their duties legally and guard the justice.
