Director of WIPO Office in China Chen Hongbing Visited SICIP

In June 8th, Mr. Chen Hongbing, the Director of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) Office in China (WOC) visited Shanghai International College of Intellectual Property (SICIP) of Tongji University. Prof. Lei Xinghui, Vice President of Tongji University;Mr. Lv Guoqiang, WIPO consultant; Prof. Shan Xiaoguang, the Dean of SICIP; Mr. Li Jianchang, the Secretary of the CPC Committee of SICIP; Prof. Zhu Xuezhong,the Vice Dean of SICIP, associate Prof. Yu Xinmiao, the Vice Dean of SICIP,associate Prof. Jiang Nan, the Deputy Secretary of CPC Committee of SICIP; and other faculty members attended the meeting.

Prof. Lei delivered a welcome speech and expressed his sincere thanks to WIPO and WOC for their long-time support, and introduced the major measures to strengthen the construction of intellectual property discipline in SICIP. Lei hoped that the college, under the guidance of the WIPO Office in China, will make more achievements in cultivation of international high-end talents, academic research and social services. Associate Prof. Yu then introduced the construction and development of SICIP.


Chen Hongbing said, as the unique cooperation partner with WIPO for postgraduate program in China, SICIP has steadily promoted various work, achieved a good beginning and won a wide range of social reputation after more than one year's construction under the supportof the Shanghai municipal government and Tongji University. He pointed out that the WOC aims to strengthen cooperation with relevant government departments and academics in China, organize publicity activities, popularize intellectual property awareness, and promote WIPO international intellectual property services and products. In recent years, many achievements have been made in the construction of distance learning platform, curriculum promotion and degree programcooperation. He stressed that SICIP has a bright future in cooperation with WIPO. In the future, the two sides can strengthen exchanges in students' internship, enrollment publicity and cooperation in academic research projects, enrich the form of cooperation, broaden the field of cooperation, promote the rapid development of the college, and realize the purpose of establishing the college for training of international high-end intellectual property talents and building intellectual property think tanks with international influence at an early date.


Shan Xiaoguang said,SICIP will further work with the WIPO office in China to promote the vigorous development of the WIPO joint-master program.



WIPO is a global institute to promote intellectual property policies, services, information and cooperation. It has 191 members and provide global services for cross-border protection of intellectual property rights and dispute resolution, including international registration of patents through the Patent Cooperation Treaty, international registration of trademarks through the Madrid system, international registration of designs through the Hague system, and offering alternative mechanisms for dispute settlement and arbitration of intellectual property rights. The WIPO Office in China was established in Beijing in July 2014. It is the fourth foreign office established by WIPO after having offices in Japan, Singapore and Brazil, which provides a new bond and an important platform for the cooperation and exchange between China and WIPO.
