On October 24, 2018, Symposium on intellectual property protection and development of creative industries in the context of Globalization was held in Tongji University.The conference was jointly sponsored by Shanghai International College of Intellectual Property. and Tongji University College of Design and Innovation.World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), World Design Organization (WDO), Shanghai High People's Court, Shanghai Global Science and Technology Innovation Center of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization,US-China Advanced Institute for International Business，Shanghai Industrial Design Association.，Universities in Shanghai and representatives of famous design and creative enterprises attended the meeting.The conference was jointly sponsored and hosted by Professor Lou Yongqi, Dean of Tongji University College of Design and Innovation, and Professor Shan Xiaoguang, Dean of Shanghai International College of Intellectual Property.

The conference discussed the development of creative design industry and intellectual property protection under the background of globalization. Experts attending the meeting pointed out that in the new era of rapid development of science and technology and economy, design is becoming a new engine to drive innovation, achieve business success and create a better life. Design creativity is integrated into people's life in the form of a culture, life form or values, and its great value has a profound impact on contemporary economic, cultural and social progress.Creative economy is a powerful impact on traditional business concepts, becoming a powerful driving force for countries to enhance national strength. China's design and creative industry is in the ascendant, and its development and intellectual property protection and many other aspects are still facing a series of problems.Under the background of the international intellectual property protection, how to give full play to the role of intellectual property system to encourage and protect independent innovation and promote the development of creative design industry has become an important issue.

In the keynote speeches, former President of tongji university PeiGang academicians, Professor Lv Guoqiang, senior advisor to China in the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO),vice President from Intellectual property court of Shanghai High People's court Tang Zhen, sina home national bureau chief Dai Bei respectively from creative design and protection of intellectual property rights, Status quo and trend of world industrial design’s protection, The present situation and prospect of judicial protection for industrial design, How do media people protect originality made a keynote speech.

During the roundtable discussion, Wang Genxiang, director of the Shanghai Center for Global Scientific and Technological Innovation of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization, Zhu Zheqin, a famous singer and cross-border voice artist, and the keynote speaker talked about the development and protection of creative industries in design, and had a warm discussion and exchange with the audience. The participants agreed that design creativity and intellectual property protection should be an important part and feature of the construction of Shanghai Global Science and Technology Center. The forthcoming World Import Exposition in Shanghai will once again make China the focus of world innovation protection. At this time, holding a seminar on intellectual property protection and development of creative design industry will help further promote the development of creative design industry, create a business environment that respects creativity, and enhance China's international image of advocating innovation.
