In April 27^th , 2018, students of the WIPO Programand B&R Program in our university visited the Patent Examination Cooperation Jiangsu Center of the Patent Office,SIPO (SIPO-PSC ), the Jiangsu International Intellectual Property Exchange (JIIPE) and the State Intellectual Property Publishing House, in Suzhou.

The host of the SIPO-PSC Jiangsu Center warmly welcomed us and introduced the history and development of the Jiangsu center. At present, the Jiangsu center mainly conductssubstantive examination of patents, international search and preliminary examination for PCT application, as well as other tasks from its supervisor. According to the host, the center takes over 20% of the administrative patent invalidity review cases of China each year. Our Students visited two review tribunals specializing in the review of patent invalidity, and obversed the working enviornmentof patent examiners in close proximity. Some students converse with the examiners.

After that, we came to the JIIPE. Here is mainly the exhibition,trading and operation platform of intellectual property from enterprises. The exchangeinstitution, with a professional business team and a business model that combines online and offline channels, provides services around industrial transformation, enterprise innovation demand, public building project, and encircleing members’ technology and intellectual property needs, intellectual property transfer, licensing, investment, equity, pledge and other activities. All students learned a lot about the knowledge of intellectual property transactions and operations here.

Lastly, the students came to the newly established Jiangsu branch of Intellectual Property Publishing House. The person in charge here gave us a detailed account of the history, main functions and related data of the publishing house, and answered many questions from our students.

In this visit, the students learned the function and strategy of the protection and utilization of intellectual property from the administrative departments of China. It was better understood by these students from all over the world that the government is strengthening the creation, protection and application of intellectual property.
