From June 17th to 18th, the 2019 Sino-German International Symposium on Innovation Policy was held in Berlin. Prof. Shan Xiaoguang, dean of SICIP, and vice dean Yu Xinmiao, were invited in their function as members of the Chinese expert group on the Sino-German Innovation Policy Platform. Yu Xinmiao made a speech on Innovation and digitization from the perspective of competition policy.  


Along with the representatives of our school, the conference also invited 25 representatives from the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research, the German Industrial Federal Association, the University of Würzburg, as well as Tsinghua University and the Chinese Academy of Sciences. At the seminar, experts discussed the development and assessment of national innovation systems, the benefits and risks of data sharing, the role of consumers in China's digitalization, the question whether innovation based on artificial intelligence was destructive, digital economy and competition policy, etc. Through this meeting, experts from the Sino-German Innovation Policy Platform further deepened their understanding of the topics and of each one’s role in the innovation system, and reached a preliminary agreement on the theme and plan of the 5th Sino-German Innovation Conference to be held in 2020.
