Ⅰ. Background
Amid the rapid wave of technological advancement, intellectual property (IP) has become increasingly recognized worldwide as a driving force for innovation. To promote international exchange in the field of intellectual property, the Shanghai International College of Intellectual Property (SICIP) at Tongji University will host the inaugural Shanghai International Summer Camp on Intellectual Property from June 27 to July 10, 2025. We welcome outstanding undergraduate and graduate students from around the world to gather in Shanghai for an exploration journey that integrates academic exchange, practical experience, and field trips.
This summer camp features three core modules: lectures on fundamental IP theory and seminar/workshops on IP policy, legal practice and management practice. Through a structured and immersive learning experience, participants will gain a deeper understanding of the synergies between IP and technological innovation.

Theoretical foundations:Renowned scholars from international organizations and top universities in China and abroad will deliver lectures covering core areas such as patent law, copyright law, and trademark law, helping participants build a solid theoretical framework in intellectual property. The module also includes seminars and talks focusing on interdisciplinary topics such as artificial intelligence, the digital economy, and the creative industries, equipping students with insights into the latest global academic developments.
Legal Practice:Participants will engage in in-depth exchanges with IP lawyers, judges, and corporate legal professionals to gain valuable practical knowledge and industry insights. Visits to the Shanghai Intellectual Property Court will offer first-hand exposure to judicial practices and the IP legal ecosystem. A specially designed mock court session, moderated by legal experts, will help participants deepen their understanding of case analysis and dispute resolution processes.
Management Application:Participants will visit innovation hubs such as Zhangjiang AI Island and the Lingang Special Area to explore how cutting-edge technologies are commercialized through intellectual property protection. A hands-on IP management case study session will be organized, centered on the development goals and industrial features of the Lingang Area. Under expert guidance, participants will be designing practical IP management plans, gaining insight into the policy and institutional frameworks that support Shanghai’s innovation ecosystem.
