In celebration of the upcoming World Intellectual Property Day on April 26, Shanghai International College of Intellectual Property (SICIP), Tongji University, in collaboration with China IP News, has jointly launched the original theme song "The Radiance of Intellectual Property". Centered on this year's theme "Feel the Beat of IP", the song uses music to interpret the contemporary significance of intellectual property protection.
Blending electronic pop with bilingual Chinese-English rap, the song features rhythmic beats and visually evocative lyrics that vividly portray the dedication of IP practitioners in areas such as copyright protection and patent innovation, paying tribute to their perseverance and spirit of innovation. The creative team infused the World IP Day theme "Feel the Beat of IP" into every aspect of music production, from chord and drum arrangements, chorus melody design, to the application of rap techniques, skillfully transforming professional knowledge into an engaging artistic expression.
Notably, the song was produced by Chang Xubo, an outstanding graduate of the 2023 WIPO Master's Program at SICIP, who served as lead producer and rap lyricist. It also featured performances by four international students from the Class of 2024, showcasing SICIP's achievements in cultivating international talent in intellectual property.

When I received the invitation from SICIP, I was both excited and nervous. The excitement came from the opportunity—recommended by Professor Lin Min—to serve as the lead producer, allowing me to integrate my profession and passion to contribute to the college. The nervousness stemmed from the challenge of balancing the intellectual property theme with pop and rap music, and how to showcase our “originality” within the “limited expressive space.”
As an IP practitioner and an original musician, I have always paid close attention to IP protection in the music industry and deeply understand music’s unique value within the theme of World IP Day 2025, “Feel the Beat of IP.” In this project, we blended professional reflection with musical expression through the language of melody and rhythm—while pursuing musicality, we meticulously refined the song’s structure and enriched the lyrics’ depth. For me, this artistic interpretation felt like a “second thesis defense” after graduation, testing the academic grounding I gained at SICIP and the professional skills I have honed.
Despite the hardships during the creation process, with encouragement from teachers and support from friends, we overcame challenges such as tight schedules, terminology adaptation, and language barriers. From overall coordination to specific production, from arrangement, lyrics, composition to recording, mixing, and video editing, we ultimately completed this musical work that shines with innovation and wisdom.
Quoting WIPO Director General Daren Tang: “Not only on April 26, but on every day thereafter, take a moment to feel the power of music.” I also hope the public can listen to and remember the resonance and echoes of humanistic care illuminated by the “beacon” of intellectual property.
Evelyn Nanny UNTADI, Class of 2024 WIPO Program, Indonesia

Being part of this project was such a cool experience—especially getting to perform the Chinese rap section! At first, I was a bit nervous since it was something new for me, and I definitely ran into a few challenges with rhythm and pronunciation. But once I got into the flow, I really started enjoying it.
Rapping about Intellectual Property might sound unexpected, but it actually works so well—it's powerful, direct, and full of energy, just like the message we want to share. I’m proud to have contributed to something meaningful, using music as a way to promote respect for creativity and original work.
This recording process not only taught me more about IP, but also reminded me how fun and fulfilling it is to step out of your comfort zone. Can’t wait for everyone to hear it !

I am very pleased to be part of this beautiful theme song in celebration of the 2025 World IP Day, as I read through the wordings of the song which emphasis on "International Unity," I felt a deep sense of connection to the message of global cooperation and collaboration. The song's powerful melody and lyrics resonated with me, reminding me that intellectual property is not just about individual achievements, but about the collective progress of humanity.
The words “we’re from all over the world, we can travel to the universe together”, emphasis on unity and cooperation. That even in our diversity, with love and togetherness, there is hope for a future where innovators, creators, and policymakers from diverse backgrounds can come together to drive positive change.
The theme song also emphasized on the role of intellectual property protection by saying no to fake and counterfeiting product, thereby, encouraging creativity and innovation, allowing individuals and organizations to build upon each other's work.
The song's message of unity in diversity resonated deeply with me, reminding me that our differences are what make our collective achievements truly remarkable, and I feel inspired to contribute to a more unified and collaborative global IP community through this theme song and my college, the SICIP.
NGUYEN DIEU ANH, Class of 2024 B&R Program, Vietnam

I am Dieu Anh from Vietnam, currently pursuing a Master's degree in Intellectual Property Law at SICIP, Tongji University. It is my honor and great pleasure to participate in the recording of a song celebrating World IP Day on April 26. Our team has worked hard, practiced diligently, and given our best effort to deliver a successful performance. This was my first time singing and rapping in Chinese, making it a truly unforgettable experience. Initially, I encountered some difficulties with pronunciation, which made me feel slightly nervous. However, my teammates and teachers generously supported me and helped improve my skills and confidence. Participating in this activity also allowed me to better understand and appreciate the cultural significance behind the lyrics. Through this song, I sincerely hope we can convey a vibrant and uplifting message, encouraging youthful enthusiasm, creativity, and innovation-values that resonate deeply with the spirit and ongoing development of intellectual property law. I believe celebrating IP Day through music can inspire a new generation to embrace and appreciate intellectual property’s role in shaping a brighter and innovative future.

Participating in the song recording session with my classmates for World Intellectual Property Day was a truly memorable experience. From the moment we started practice and we stepped into the studio, there was a sense of unity, creativity, and excitement in the air. It was inspiring to see how each of us brought our unique voices and energy to the project. I feel incredibly grateful to have been part of such a joyful and purpose-driven initiative. I want to thank everyone who made this possible, especially our teachers and organizers who supported us every step of the way. May the message of this song reach many hearts, and may our generation continue to honor and protect creative works across all forms.
